We can machine the plates by using our plasma and waterjet cutting equipment. The plates can be easily polished in our two main finishes – #4 satin (180 grit), and #8 mirror finish and Alliant can provide finer finishes as required, such as RA [roughness average] with a specific number indicating the finish it needs to be polished to. This is determined utilizing a tool known as a profilometer. It measures the RA# at certain points in a piece that has been polished.
